J.S. Tucker Insurance strives to develop a complete insurance plan by evaluating a client’s risks and exposures while offering a cost-effective solution for managing them. Our experts find the right coverages for you, that protects against property losses to your business, company vehicles, and against legal liability that may result from injury of employees.

General Liability

Owning a business can result in a range of unpredictable events that can either positively or negatively affect your company, its finances, and your personal assets. Having the right General Liability plan can buffer your business from the possible expense of a third-party claim. Such claims can include medical costs, litigation expenses, bodily injury, and/or property damage.

Recommended if:

  • Ever visit a client’s place of business or if a client ever visits yours.
  • Using third-party physical locations for any business-related functions.
  • Advertising
  • Hoping to obtain a client that requires General Liability coverage in its contract
  • Selling a Product or Service

Umbrella & Excess Liability

A seemingly insignificant incident can result in a catastrophic outcome for a company. It is impossible to try to predict such disasters in a work environment, but that doesn’t mean you can’t protect against them. For instance, an old wire leads to shortage in one of your company’s computers causing an electrical fire. That fire spreads to your entire building then continues on from building to building, finally destroying an entire block of offices. What started out as a seemingly trivial event could leave your company in financial ruin if you didn’t have an Excess Liability policy in effect.

Excess Liability Coverage Offers:

  • Limits consistent with the underlying limits
  • Protection against the ever-increasing cost of litigation
  • Flexibility to protect where gaps exist

Business Liability

Owning a business can, unfortunately, result in a vast range of unpredictable events that can negatively affect your company. Business Liability insurance helps you gain security and confidence for your business in the event of a lawsuit against your company where legal defense and/or legal damages are claimed in relation to you, your company, or even your employees. Anyone who comes in contact with you or an employee has the ability to file claims and/or lawsuits against you and your company for a variety of reasons

Such reasons include but are not limited to:

  • On location or during operations- If a customer or client is injured in any way at your location, all medical bills and the possibility of a lawsuit are held against the company for negligence. With Business Liability Insurance, such expenses are covered.
  • Completed products, services, operations, and/or projects
  • Online and data liability

Commercial Auto

A commercial auto insurance policy is an important insurance coverage needed for businesses with company vehicles used by various employees. It is very similar to a personal auto insurance policy, but is written and rated differently to ensure that your company is protected from physical damages and liabilities which may not be covered in a traditional personal auto insurance policy. A commercial auto insurance policy is typically more flexible as it provides coverage for business, personal, non-owned, or hired vehicles based on coverages uniquely written, purchased, and applied to each scheduled vehicle. This makes it possible for a business to have particular coverages which are designed and written specifically for the needs of each vehicle.

A Commercial Auto Insurance policy is recommended for any company that:

  • Uses a vehicle to transport goods or people for a fee or service
  • Requires higher limits of liability
  • Hauls large amounts of weight in tools or equipment
  • Employs people who may operate vehicles that are owned or in the name of the company.

Directors and Officers Liability

Directors and Officers liability insurance is an insurance policy written and designed to protect directors and officers of a company or the company itself from potential losses, lawsuits, or liabilities. This policy will pay or reimburse directors, officers, or organizations for losses or possible fiscal requirements associated with the defense, investigations, or alleged wrongful acts of said lawsuits or liabilities. Most Directors’ and Officers’ liability insurance policies are customizable for the unique needs of each corporation or organization.

Reasons for being sued:

  • Breach of fiduciary duty/mismanagement of the business and operations
  • Wrongful interference with a contract
  • Failure to deliver services
  • Disclosure of materially false or misleading information
  • Unfair trade practices
  • Consumer protection violation
  • Violation of state and federal laws

Why Directors and Officers Liability is Recommended:

A Board of Directors will almost always require Directors and Officers liability insurance in order to mitigate any fiscal liabilities associated with potential lawsuits. In addition, most venture capitalists will require Directors and Officers liability insurance before investing in a corporation or organization.

Employment Practices Liability

Employment Practices Liability is written to protect employers from allegations of wrong-doing to both employees, and may be extended to include similar claims from Third Parties (non-employees). Some of the alleged wrongdoings are Wrongful Termination; Failure to Promote; Sexual Harassment; Discrimination, etc. the list goes on and on. This coverage can also provide some relief against regulatory reviews of allegations of wrongdoing that are enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Civil rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination Act, and/or the Family and Medical Leave Act.

  • Wrongful termination, including allegations of breach of employment contract
  • Harassment, such as work place bullying, sexual harassment or hostile work environment.
  • Discrimination, such as but not limited to, age, gender, gender identity, race, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, pregnancy, military status, or disability.

  • Employment-related misrepresentations
  • Employment-related libel, slander, humiliation, defamation, or invasion of privacy
  • False arrest or imprisonment
  • Wrongful failure to employ or promote
  • Wrongful discipline
  • Failure to grant tenure
  • Negligent hiring, retention, training, supervision, infliction of emotional distress or mental anguish, failure to provide or enforce adequate or consistent corporate policies and procedures, or violation of an individual’s civil rights.
